Virginia Craft Beer Events (May 31st to June 6th)

It’s finally here! Strangeways Brewing finally opened up this past Wednesday.  From what I hear their place is pretty damn cool.  Right now they only have two of their four beers on the tap.  The other two will be on tap by end of June.  So if you get a chance stop by and say hello.

Boulevard Brewing hit the Richmond market early.  Bottles and kegs were delivered earlier this week to various retailers.  Today official tasting events will happen.  Their are other events happening all next week.  However, I am still gather complete details.  So be sure to check the event calendar or my Twitter account to find out what’s happening.

So with that let’s get into our updates:
Fri May 31st:
Capital Ale House Fredericksburg is continuing their week long Duvel Steal the Glass night.  If you haven’t seen the glasses click the link. Each day will feature a special beer and it’s glass.  Just remember one glass per person.
Hardywood Park is having a Bike Month Wrap Party.  All month you were encouraged to ride your bike to work, shopping or just for fun and now you can ride the bike to Hardywood Park.  They will open their new taproom as well enjoy music, food and well beer!  Speaking of beer, they are also celebrating Bourbon Stout Day with the release of their Russian Imperial Stout aged in 7 different barrels form different distilleries.
The Public House is saluting New Holland Brewing with Mad Hatter IPA and special Firkin to be tapped at 7pm. 

Sat June 1st:

It’s Sat in June and that means another festival.  This is the 2nd Annual Franklin County Strings and Spirits Festival.  Starts at 11am until 7pm.
Center of the Universe Brewing is kicking off the summer with cans of Main St Virginia Ale and Ray Ray’s Pale Ale.  Come by starting at 3pm and buy your sixer.

Sun June 2nd:

Commercial Taphouse is kicking off Boulevard with the tapping of Double-wide D.IPA, Tank 7 Saison, and 80-acre Hoppy Wheat

Tue June 4th:

Pizzeria Paradiso Old Town is having a Long Trail Brewing Tap Takeover starting at 5pm.

Wed June 5th:
Mekong will host a Boulevard Brewing Release Party with kegs and bottle ready to be consumed starting at 4:20pm.
Ellwoods Thompson is having another beer class.  This one is Sour Hour!  A Sweet Class on Sour Beers.  Spots are going fast.  The link has ticket details.
Tuscarora Mills is having a Great Lakes Beer Dinner starting at 7pm.  Cost is $85 Inclusive.
Center of the Universe Brewing is hosting their weekly RVA Street Foodies Court starting at 4pm.
Hardywood Park will have GROW RVA Market each Wednesday starting at 6pm.

Thur June 6th:
Capital Ale House Downtown is having a Boulevard Brewing Steal the Glass night starting at 5pm.
RVA Street Foodies Truck Court makes it’s stop at Hardywood Park starting at 6pm.

Weekly Virginia Craft Beer Events (April 26th to May 2nd)

Greetings!
So earlier this week fellow blogger The Beer Road put out a post on this summer’s beer festivals.  I went through events from last year and found many more festivals hitting the state starting next month.  So what I am going to do collect them all (at least all I could find) and put them in a drop down.  So be on the look out for that very soon.

Let’s welcome the state’s newest licensed brewery.  Yep, Redbeard Brewing in Staunton finally got all the approvals done and are fully licensed   I would expect to see them opening up in the next couple of months.   Speaking of new breweries another one nearly ready to open is Sunken City Brewing in Hardy, Va.  They are planning to open up on May 10th.

Strangeways Brewing, located here in Richmond, has gotten their equipment installed and just announced their agreement with Brown Dist to get their product to market.  Look for an open date to be announcement very soon.

Fri Apr 26th:
Hardywood Park is hosting their weekly Firkin Friday.  Starts at 4pm.
Legend Brewing also has their own Frikin Friday with a variation of the Lost City Of Richmond Saison with strawberry and rhubarb. They will tap it at 3pm.
Celebrate Arbor Day will be celebrated by Pizzeria Paradiso today and tomorrow.  Come out and enjoy pizza and specials on beer.
Union Station in Harrsionburg is hosting a Three Brothers Beer Dinner.  I am not sure if this is sold out.  Call Cameron (540-578-1528) or Sirena (540-578-1817) for reservations
Starr Hill is continuing their launch of Grateful Pale with brews and music at The Jefferson Theater.  Starts at 6pm.
TJ at The Jefferson Hotel is hosting a Blue Mountain Beer Dinner with Taylor Smack.  Dinner starts at 6pm.  Contact jonathan.kibiloski@jeffersonhotel.com to see if any spots are left.
Center of the Universe and Americamps are teaming up for a NASCAR weekend tail gate party.  Today will have food trucks, beer and the race live on big screen.  They open at 4pm.

Sat Apr 27th:
It’s St. George Day and well St. George Brewing is celebrating with English style pub food from Stuff Food and of course beer.
Foggy Ridge Cider is having Farm Days today.  Come out for fresh produce and fresh cider.  From 11-5pm.
Culpeper Renaissance Inc. is hosting their Inaugural Gnarly Hops & Barley Fest from Noon until 6pm.
Williamsburg Lodge will have a Pints and Pairs Beer Tasting.  Come out and meet Hugh Sisson with Heavy Seas Brewing as they talk beer paired with some great food.  Link has all details.
Hardywood Park is releasing their Bourbon Cru today.  This highly sought after beer will be high demand.  There will be food trucks and music as well.
Total Wine & More in Richmond (South Location)Virginia Beach and McLean are hosting a Beer Class at their locations.  This month it will focus on Craft Beer in Cans.  Contact each location to hold your spot.
Gallery 5 and Apocalypse Alewerks are teaming together to release their Lust Maiden Double with a burlesque show.  Starts at 8pm.
Albemarle Cider Works is hosting the CiderMakers Forum Cider Dinner starting.  If you are attending the forum you’ll definitely want to be at this dinner.  If not, that’s Ok you can still attend the dinner.
The Toyota Owners 400 is tonight and Center of the Universe along with Americamps are continuing their Tail Gate party start at noon until 9.

Mon Apr 29th:
Brock’s Riverside Grill in Fredericksburg is hosting a Highland Brewing Beer Dinner.  Check the link for reservation and menu details.
Dogfish Alehouse in Falls Church is having a Bacon & Beer Dinner.  This is sold out.  Sorry.

Tue Apr 30th:
Sedona Taphouse will have a Devils Backbone Steal the Glass night starting at 5pm.

Wed May 1st:
Center of the Universe hosts the weeky RVA Foodie Food Truck Court starting at 4pm.

Thur  May 2nd:
Hardywood Park will host their weekly RVA Foodie Food Truck Court starting at 6pm.

Weekly Virginia Craft Beer Events (March 1st to March 7th)

Just an update to Redbeard Brewing’s Kickstarter project
With 2 days left they still need to raise roughly $20,000.  So if you are on the fence now is the time to contribute.  Remember, if they don’t meet the goal then none of the Kickstarter gets funded.

It’s a lite week of events (as of now).  So let’s jump into the events.

So with that let’s get into our updates:
Fri Mar 1st:
It’s the first Friday of the month, that means Ales of the Crypt.  All Capital Ale House locations will be have special keg that they’ve been holding on to for a while to be enjoyed by all.

Sat Mar 2nd:
Popkin Tavern is hosting their weekly Beer School starting at 4pm.  Come in and learn a little something about beer.  This week’s topic will be announced late Friday.
Whole Foods Virginia Beach has a weekly tap takeover from 4-7pm.  They usually announce it that day on Facebook.
Hardywood Park will be releasing their Bourbon Barrel Sidamo Coffee Stout at 10am.  Bottle sales will run from 10 – 12noon.  Regular schedule will happen from 2 – 9pm.
Local Suds will have their monthly Brew Tour starting at 2pm.  This one will start and end at Capital Ale House Innsbrook.  As of this writing there are only 4 tickets left.
Starr Hill Brewing is releasing their ROCK MS Bourbon Barrel Cryptical Imperial Stout today in their taproom starting at noon.

Mon Mar 4th:
Pizzeria Paradiso Old Town will have a Stillwater Artisnal Ale Tap Takeover starting at 5pm.
Brock’s Riverside Grill is hosting a Sierra Nevada Beer Dinner starting at 7pm.  A few seats still available but filling up quickly.

Tue Mar 5th:
It’s Tuesday and that means Steal the Glass Night at all Capital Ale House locations.  This week is St. Patrick’s Celebration
Zinc Restaurant in Charlottesville is having a Starr Hill Brewing Beer Dinner starting at 6:30pm.

Thur Mar 7th:
Thursday is Beer School Thursday at Whole Foods Virginia Beach.  Starts at 6:30pm

Midweek Virginia Craft Beer Update…Virgina Craft Beer Month Kickoff!

Where do I start???  Oh man, so many things and so little time.  First, I realize I never put out the weekly event posting this past Friday.  I did manage to get the tasting posted for the week done, so that’s a win.  Tomorrow kicks off Virginia Craft Beer Month.  I have received word for many events and the list is growing.  So let me get you what’s going on the next couple of days.

Tomorrow, Wed July 25th, Virginia Tourism is kicking off Virginia Craft Beer Month at Legend Brewing C0.  Starting at 4pm their will be beer (of course), brewers and well just fun to be had on the deck.  Check out the official statement here.
The Birch Bar will have Beer Education Wednesday tomorrow featuring Cuvée des Jacobins Rouge.
Beer Run will also have their Mid Week beer tasting with a Lagunitas sampling.
Blue Lab Brewing is starting their own Christmas in July celebration by opening their tasting room and releasing their Green Chile Ale.
Pizzeria Paradiso is having an American Beer Dinner starting  at 7pm. I did check and I think this is sold out but contact them to validate.
Dogfish Head Alehouse in Fairfax is having an Ancient Ales Beer Dinner.  This is sold out.
Mad Fox brewing is also having a beer dinner, featuring Sausage & Beer.  Dinner starts at 7pm.  Follow the link for menu, contact and price.
Capital Ale House in Fredericksburg will having a Troegs Brewing Tap Take over.  Starting at 7pm, they will have several of your favorite Troegs beers on tap place select glassware.

On Thur July 26th:
Lyon Hall is hosting two famous Danish Brewers.  I won’t say anything else.  Just follow the link.  Starts at 5pm.
At 5pm, Pizzeria Paradiso is having a Green Flash Tap Takeover.  The list is long and looks to be one that you shouldn’t miss.  Check the link out.
It’s Thursday and that means Food Truck Court…at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery.   At 6pm come out and enjoy a great selection and beer including the newly release Virginia Strawberry.
