A Compendium of Curiosities at Strangeways Brewing
EACH WEDNESDAY (starting tomorrow June the 19th) we plan on tapping special selections of NEW draft beers. These drafts are in small quantities, and will be available at the brewery tasting room only (while supplies last). Tappings will occur at 4:00 pm. We apologize, but no growler fills on CURIOSITIES Beers.
This Week, CURIOSITIES Come in Threes:
I. BERRY MERITAGE WALLONIAN DAWN HONEY SAISON: Note the black and red currants for fruitiness and tang, the hibiscus for tartness, rose hip chips for smoothness and raisins for a natural sweetness
II. MALLORCA MELON ALBINO MONKEY WHITE ALE: A delicious blend of Spanish cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, hibiscus, and Seville orange for a sweet and tangy infusion
III. CARAMEL DREAM WOODBOOGER BELGIAN BROWN ALE: Caramel and Madagascar vanilla to give a sweet note to this earthy blend

The Bruery’s Bois on Draft!
We’ll be taking a short hiatus from our regularly scheduled Summer samplers.
“Each year, The Bruery releases an anniversary brew. Each release is different, carrying a French name for the traditional wedding gift each year. 2013 marks The Bruery’s 5th year, typically marked by a gift of wood. The brewery is marking the occasion perfectly with a 100% barrel aged old ale aged in bourbon barrels.
The sturdy beer marks our fifth year, and we are grateful for the outpouring of community. Together may our supporters, our brewery and this beer grow in complexity and refinement over the years.”
Style: Old Ale (Barrel Aged)
15% ABV

Beer Run Weekly Beer Tasting featuring Yard Brewing
Yards Brewing< |
Free Beer Tasting Wednesday June 19th
with Yards Brewing from Philly.
6PM-8PM
The year was 1988, and like many College students, Tom Kehoe and Jon Bovit, enjoyed their beer, but didn’t enjoy paying for it. Tom and Jon decided to take action and began brewing it themselves.
As they homebrewed their way through Western Maryland College, they experimented with malt, hops and yeast, formulating new recipes and sharing their creations with friends. It wasn’t long until they had more friends than beer.
To gain some hands- on experience in a professional brewery, Kehoe and Bovit apprenticed at the British Brewing Company, a pioneering English-style brewery in Glen Burnie, Md. The early days were spent cleaning kegs and their first paycheck was in the form of a Happy Meal. No joke…quarter pounder, fries, and a coke.
In 1994, they emptied their savings accounts, maxed out their credit cards, and took the plunge by founding Yards Brewing Company in a 900-square-foot garage in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia.
The Yards story is now in its 18th year. There were a few stops along the way.
On The Tasting Table:
-Brawler Mild Ale
-Saison Ale
-Thomas Jefferson Golden Ale
-Trubbel de Yards Belgian Style Strong Ale

i like how all videos say blottes and stuff can be purchased at your local homebrew shop , seriously i lived in ATL and Charl. NC, bot major cities and havent found anything remotely close to thess so called homebrew shop
Just doing a quick search for home brew shops in Atlanta and I found this link
http://www.beerinfo.com/atlbeer/homebrew.html
As for Charlotte, I also lived there at one point in my life and still travel there regularly. There is a shop called Alternative Beverage in Belmont and South Charlotte (South blvd).
Have you considered including some social bookmarking links to these blogs. At the very least for myspace.
Honestly, no. However, I’ll see what I can do.
