Stout Flight Beer Ed. Wednesday – Halloween Alewerks Pumpkin Beer at The Birch Bar #Norfolk

    THIS WEEK’S EDUCATION

    Fire and Brimstone Sampler

    Del Ducato Brett Peat Daydream

    7.0% Peated Sour Ale

Del Ducato’s sequel to My Blueberry Nightmare. It is a blend of 1/3 Ale Aged in Whiskey Barrels, 1/3 Ale Brewed w/ Brettanomyces & 1/3 Young Peat-Smoked Ale. It is smokey and sour all at the same time!

    Schlenkerla Helles “Bock” “Z”

    4.5% Zinfandel Barrel Smoked Ale

Schlenkerla Helles is a Helles Lager that is made on the same equipment as their Rauchbier and Oak Smoke, making the Lager, that doesn’t use smoked malt, smokey by association so to speak! Then B. United has aged this in a California Zinfandel barrel, giving it a wine like quality with a smokey aftertaste.

    Del Borgo Perle ai Porci

    5.2% Oyster/Clam Stout ITA

    “Cast pearls before swine”

Inspired by the Nordic tradition, it is a dark colored stout. During the brew, fresh oysters were added with their shells. They were rare Fin de Claire N2 from Brittany’s coast, to be precise (15 kilos of oysters for 500 liters of gyle). Its aroma has beautiful roasted, slightly savory and mineral notes given by the shell. It has a creamy and full-bodied mouthfeel, with a pleasant, not too strong salty ending.

Both oysters & clams are added to the brewkettle:

Fresh oysters {with their shell} from Brittany’s coast from the type “Fin de Claire”

Fresh clams {with their shell} from the Tyrrhenian Sea off the Lazio area from the type “Telline”

    CCM +Negra

    5.2% Spanish Dry Irish Stout

Top-fermented dark Irish stout with 4 cereal grains (barley, wheat, oats and rye). It is a style known worldwide for the Guinness brand, but in its more natural state (without filtering or pasteurising) it is known as Real Ale.

Tasting notes: Combines the complexity of toasted flavours with the mellowness of the cereals to give rise to a nutritious and regenerative beer.

Ingredients: Malts: Pale Ale, Crystal, Chocolate, Coffee, Caramel and Black malt; Cereals: toasted barley, flakes of barley, wheat, oats and rye. Hops: Hallertau Hersbruck, Northern Brewer and Styrian Golding. Yeast.

Beer Run Weekly Beer Tasting featuring Left Hand Brewing Co.

    Left Hand Brewing Co. Tasting

Left Hand 400#The Left Hand story started in December of 1990 with a small homebrewers kit. Dick Doore, the co-founder of Left Hand, received the kit as a Christmas present from his brother. According to Dick, “it was all downhill from there.” His obsession with homebrewing led him back to Colorado in August of 1993, where he met up with a former college buddy and soon-to-be Left Hand co-founder, Eric Wallace.

Since Left Hand started out 20 years ago, they’ve racked up 22 medals at the Great American Beer Festival, 8 World Beer Cup awards, 5 European Beer Star Awards, a Gold Medal at the International Stockholm Beer & Whiskey Festival, and a growing loyal customer base in 26 states and throughout Europe.

Join us for a tasting of their Award-Winning beers Wednesday 10/30 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

On The Tasting Table 6 – 8 PM

Polestar Pilsner: You will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have seen the light, and there you will always long to return. Light, crisp and elegant, pilsner is the true test of brewing prowess. Less is more. 5.5% abv.

Sawtooth Ale: It’s all you’ll ever need. Sessionable. Unpretentious. Our original flagship. Proof that a beer can be both complex and balanced. Malty chewiness slowly transitioning over to herbal, earthy hops with a dry finish. Brewed to be enjoyed with friends and to stimulate serendipity. 5.3% abv.

Milk Stout Nitro: Pouring hard out of the bottle, Milk Stout Nitro cascades beautifully, building a tight, thick head like hard whipped cream. The aroma is of brown sugar and vanilla cream, with hints of roasted coffee. The pillowy head coats your upper lip and its creaminess entices your palate. Initial roasty, mocha flavors rise up, with slight hop & roast bitterness in the finish. The rest is pure bliss of milk chocolate fullness. 6.0% abv.

400 Pound Monkey: Brewed with hops of a different color, earthy and herbal, well-balanced by bready malt. The result? An English-style IPA that separates itself from the ubiquitous bunch. 6.8% abv.
